BARBARA MUSELLA
     PRESIDENT
Barbara Musella is a 34 year resident of Westchester. She spent 15 of those years working with the Bank of America. She is also a member of the Southern California Leadership Council for the Washington State University Foundation.

Barbara is married to Richard Musella, an active volunteer and leader within the Westchester community. Together they have two grown children who attended local Westchester schools.

MARGIE HANSON

Margie Hanson is a 28 year resident of Playa del Rey.  Moving here from Boston, Margie settled into the beach life and a corporate career in voice and data technology. 

In 1998 Margie started her own business, Communicating - Today's Way, Inc. which is a consulting and service firm for on-line business communications. The initial start-up of her business introduced her to her local community and the many small businesses located right here in Westchester. 

Today Margie has become very entwined with Westchester, serving on the Boards of the Westchester LAX/Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce,  Westchester Vitalization. and the Westchester Streetscape Improvement Assoc.

Outside of Westchester, Margie is a mentor and an advocate for children's rights and is associated with several business women's organizations as well as other chambers of commerce. 



GEOFF MALEMAN

Geoff D. Maleman is Owner and President of Maleman Ink Public Relations, a Westchester-based public relations firm that has represented a wide range of local businesses and organizations since 1995.  Specializing in media relations, collateral material development and community outreach. Maleman Ink has represented such diverse businesses and organizations as the City of Culver City, Thomas Properties Group, Playa Vista, Culver City Unified School District, Standard Pacific Homes, Westchester Lutheran School, H.B. Drollinger Co., Mercury Air Group, Sit 'n Sleep, The Oakstone Company, Tony P's Dockside Grill and more.

The firm has been recognized with a number of honors, including the 2003 Friend of Education Award and the 2000 Community Service Award from the Westchester/LAX-Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce, the 2000 California Gold Award of Merit from the California School Public Relations Association, the 1999 Outstanding Member Award from the Westchester/LAX-Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce, and the 1997 Outstanding Member Award from the Culver City Chamber of Commerce. 

Maleman is Past-President of the Rotary Club of Westchester and Past-President of the Westchester/LAX-Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce.  He is also an elected member of the Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa del Rey. He has been involved with a wide range of non-profit organizations, including The Culver-Palms Family YMCA, Culver City branch of the American Heart Association, Homes for Life Foundation, Westchester/Playa del Rey Historical Society and Westchester Vitalization Corporation.  He also sits on several boards, including the Westchester/LAX-Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce and the Westchester Family YMCA Board of Managers.  He has been appointed to the Manchester Square Blue Ribbon Committee by Los Angeles Mayor James K. Hahn, the Community Plan Update Advisory Committee by Los Angeles City Councilmember Ruth Galanter, the Westchester Streetscape Improvement Association by Councilmember Cindy Miscikowski and to the Trade Advisory Committee by Congresswoman Jane Harman.  In addition, Maleman is a mntor in the Culver City High School Vanguard program and been a Catholic Big Brother.

Maleman also currently writes a weekly column in the Argonaut newspaper. 

Prior to his experience in public relations, Maleman worked as editor and reporter for Wave Community Newspapers, the nation's largest weekly newspaper chain.  In that capacity, he directed news coverage for the chain's West Division, encompassing a circula5tion of more than 100,000.  In 1994, Maleman was the recipient of the "Best Newswriting Award" from the Los Angeles Press Club.

A native Californian, Geoff D. Maleman was born in Torrance on August 13, 1968.  He graduated from Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, the nation's top journalism school.  He currently lives in Westchester with his wife, Nicole; and his daughters, Kaitlyn and Sydney.
                  

SUE PIERVIN

Sue Piervin is a 12 year resident of Westchester. She has a B.S. degree in psychology from the State University of NY at Oneonta with graduate work at Adelphi University, NY, and UCLA in social work, psychology and computer science. Sue has past employment as a Children’s Services Caseworker, California State Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the mentally ill, Administrative Analyst for the U.S. Department of Agriculture; and began work at UCLA Medical Center 23 years ago, where she is currently a Programmer/Analyst Supervisor and Project Leader. She works with various hospital departments in developing and managing patient applications, and has earned numerous management awards. 

Sue became involved with the Westchester Streetscape Improvement Association (WSIA) earlier this year after organizing a local neighborhood group, and working with City Councilman Bill Rosendahl’s staff in a continuing effort to improve the appearance of their Westchester street. She has volunteer experience with her over 10-year involvement in annual fundraising and participation in the Revlon RunWalk for Women in support of research for women’s cancers. She has also served as a condominium board treasurer and event planner for business and related functions.

JOHN RUHLEN

John Ruhlen and his wife, Gail, moved to Westchester in 1967.  They have two grown sons and one grandson.  In 1978 John Ruhlen & Associates, Inc., a space planning and commercial interior design firm was established in Westchester.  Clients included Western Airlines, AT&T global Communication Centers, Korean Airlines, Delta Airlines, Los Angeles World Airports, banks and churches.

In 1983 John became involved in the community, volunteering his time and talents by serving on many organizations including the Board of Directors of the Westchester/LAX-Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Airport Relations Chamber Committee, and President of the Westchester Vitalization Corporation.

Additional community involvement includes serving on the Coastal Transportation Coalition; serving on the Westchester Mobility Action Committee; serving as a member of the Gateway to LA Century Corridor; serving as an Advisor to the Council Office on the Los Angeles Human Relations Commission from 1991 to 2001 and was in charge of their city wide art competition program for elementary schools.


KENT STRUMPELL

Kent Strumpell is an educational film maker who has lived in Westchester most of his life. For several years he has been self-studying urban planning and photographing cities.  He has created numerous slide lectures to share what he's learned with communities throughout Los Angeles.  

He is an active member in organizations involved with transportation/land use issues, including the Westchester Playa del Rey Neighborhood Council's Planning Land Use Committee, LA Walks and Friends of the Green Line.  

Kent also serves on the board of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition.
