DID YOU KNOW that smooth sidewalks, blooming trees, and landscaping have improved far more than the beauty of our neighborhood?
THE WESTCHESTER STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION carries out projects that benefit many aspects of our community, from the safety and well being of our neighbors, to the economic vitality of our local economy.
SIDEWALKS
Increased pedestrian traffic means frequent interaction with your neighbors and local businesses, which increases civic pride and reduces crime rates. Plus, residents who have access to smoother sidewalks are more likely to be physically active.
TREE PLANTING
Healthy trees filter out harmful air pollutants and reduce noise, increasing overall air quality. Shade from a full-bloomed tree can reduce air conditioning needs and slow deterioration and minimizes root damage to sidewalks and streets — which reduces maintenance costs. Healthy, trimmed trees also reduce risk of dangerous entanglement with power lines, gutters and streets.
SENSE OF COMMUNITY
Donating and volunteering in your community boosts personal satisfaction and creates social ties with neighbors. Civic pride also attracts new residents and investments, and discourages crime.
